Afterhour
A party that carries on after the club officially closes.
Detailed explanation
An afterhour (or just an after) is an event that starts when other clubs close — typically between 4 and 6 in the morning, and running well into the day. Afterhours often have harder, more hypnotic music than a normal club night.
In practice
At four in the morning the main floor is empty, but thirty people are still there and do not want to go home. That is the moment an afterhour starts — and the moment most beginners make the mistake of carrying on with peak-time material. What carries the room now is slower, more hypnotic, with fewer vocals and longer transitions. You are no longer playing to a crowd, you are playing to a room where everybody knows each other.
