The Camelot Wheel is the standard system for harmonic mixing. It shows you at a glance which keys are harmonically compatible — with no music theory needed.

How to use the tool
Click a key (for example 8A = Am) — that's the key of your current track
Keys lit green = perfectly compatible (±1 on the wheel, same side)
Keys lit orange = well compatible (same number, other side A↔B)
Keys not lit = avoid
Inner ring (A) = minor keys, outer ring (B) = major keys
So you can find the numbers again in rekordbox: the format sits under [Preferences] > [View] > [Display Type] > [Key display format]. The choices are [Classic] (key name, e.g. Am) and [Alphanumeric] (e.g. 1A, 2A) — so the Camelot notation is called ALPHANUMERIC there, not Camelot. That is exactly why looking for it fails.
Common mistakes
Reading the rule as a permission list rather than a shortcut. Matching numbers guarantee no good transition — they only rule out the worst case.
Making two jumps at once (changing number AND letter). That is the one step the wheel does not cover.
Hunting for the numbers in your software without switching the key display format — otherwise you get classical key names, and none of them is called 8A.

Take the time in one go — hearing and timing develop through repetition, not through reading.
You have it when you can name the three neighbours of any number without looking at the wheel — and say which of them changes the mood.
Questions about this tool
Which numbers work with mine?
Three neighbours: the same number with the other letter (8A ↔ 8B), one number up (8A → 9A) and one number down (8A → 7A). That is the whole rule. Anything else can work but has to be checked by ear — and a set leaves no time for trying.
What do the letters A and B mean?
A is minor, B is major. Switching between them on the same number is the most noticeable move the rule allows: the mood tips audibly while the notes stay related. That is exactly what makes it a tool — it lifts or lowers energy without the break a random key change would cause.
Do I have to mix harmonically?
No. A great deal of techno and tech house lives on percussion and bass weight rather than melody — nobody there notices the key, and the rule only costs you choice. It matters as soon as two melodic elements run at once: then you hear a clash immediately, even if you cannot name it.
What if the key analysis is wrong?
It happens, especially on tracks with little harmony or with vocals from another key. When in doubt, check against a second analysis or against your ear: if two supposedly matching tracks bite in the transition, the reading was wrong, not the rule. Write the correction down, or you will make the same transition again in four weeks.
