Rekordbox
Pioneer DJ's software for library management and mixing.
Detailed explanation
rekordbox is Pioneer DJ's official DJ software. It has two main jobs: 1. Library management — import and analyse tracks (BPM, key, beat grid), set hot cues, build playlists, export USB sticks for club gigs. 2. Performance mode — a full DJ application with decks, mixer and FX. With a DDJ-FLX2 connected, performance mode can be used without a subscription (hardware unlock) — cloud features and some professional functions still depend on a paid plan.

As of January 2026. Evidence for the hardware unlock of the DDJ-FLX2, not for the full feature set of the paid plans.
In practice
The real work with this software happens not in the club but at the kitchen table: import tracks, let them analyse, set cue points, build playlists, export to the stick. Do that and in the club you put a stick in the player and find everything again. Skip it and you are scrolling the display for file names. The difference between those two nights is not talent, it is two hours of preparation.
