A fully rebuilt Pioneer DDJ-FLX4: 87 controls, all of them operable, each one explained with the page of the manual it comes from. Two decks play synth loops or your own tracks (which stay in your browser — nothing is uploaded). Faders, EQ, filter, beat FX and pads audibly shape the sound — with no device, no software and no account.

How to use the tool

Start with the channel fader and EQ LOW. Those are the two moves that appear in almost every transition — everything else is extra.
Common mistakes
Starting with the effects. A transition is made of channel fader, EQ and crossfader — effects are decoration and, early on, they hide the thing you actually wanted to practise.
Confusing the TRIM knob with volume. TRIM sits BEFORE the EQ and brings two tracks to the same level; the channel fader is the one you move during a transition.
Treating SYNC as the whole answer. SYNC matches the rate, not the phase — that is true on the device just as it is here, and lining the beats up stays hand work on the jog.

Take the time in one go — hearing and timing develop through repetition, not through reading.
You have it when you can say what five randomly clicked controls do before reading the card — and can get from deck 1 to deck 2 without the guided tour.
Questions about this tool
Does the simulator replace a real controller?
No, and it is not meant to. What it replaces is the manual: you learn the layout, the names and the effect of every control without owning a device. What it cannot replace is the feel — how heavy a jog wheel runs, how far a fader really travels. The simulation says in several places where its own limits are.
Are my tracks uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and decoded inside your browser; it never leaves your device and is not stored anywhere. Reload the page and it is gone. BPM detection runs locally as well — which is why it takes a moment on long files.
I own a different device. Is this still useful?
Yes, for most of it. Channel fader, EQ, crossfader, cue, loop and pads are named the same on nearly every entry-level controller and sit in similar places. What differs is the size and labelling of the effects section and a few second functions. Anyone who has understood the FLX4 will find their way around a DDJ-200, a Hercules or a club mixer without the manual.
Why do the effects sound different from a real FLX4?
Because they are rebuilt, not sampled. The beat FX, pad effects and filters are built from Web Audio blocks and tuned by ear — they show the EFFECT (what a low-pass does to the sound, how an echo fills the bar), not the sound of the original. Wherever the simulation cannot do something at all, it says so in the limits list below the console.
