Signal Chain
The path the audio signal takes from source to speaker.
Detailed explanation
The signal chain describes the complete path of the audio signal: music file → software (rekordbox) → audio interface (built into the FLX2) → mixer → amplifier → speakers. Understanding the signal chain is what makes troubleshooting possible: no sound? Work through it from front to back and find where the signal stops.

In practice
There is no sound and you do not know why. Instead of guessing, walk the chain backwards: speakers on, cable in the master output, master turned up, channel fader up, gain not fully closed, track playing. In nine out of ten cases you find the fault in that order within a minute. Start swapping cables instead and you spend twenty minutes, end up with one cable fewer and the same problem.
